Children and Family Classes
Arty Parties will be back! Beginning January 6 - March 17 from 10:00 - 12:00 each Saturday we will offer a variety of FREE art/craft experience for kids/families ages 12 and under.
Bring your toddler (3,4,5 year old and toilet trained) to this 1 hour and 1/2 long class beginning on Tuesday, September 5 - October 10 from 12:30 - 2:00 pm. This afternoon class is lead by our ArtStart preschool teacher Ashley Chichester. She will give your child art experiences and stories which are related to weekly themes. Your child will also enjoy a little bit of creative play too! Children must be toilet trained. Limited class of 7 children, so register soon!
Join Ms. Summer beginning Friday, September 8th - October 13th from 12:30 to 2:00 as she guides your children in projects that focus on arts and literacy, encourage independence and enrich creativity. Children will be introduced to new art experiences and be able to use different art mediums each week. group play, stories, songs, and large motor play are also part of this 90 minute class designed for children ages 3 - 5 years old and toilet trained. Art Gallery showcase of all children's works will take place after last class.

Join Chris Carmicle on Wednesdays, September 6 -27 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the Clay Studio! This class will focus on hand building techniques such as slab construction, coil and pinched items that will be completed with glazing and firing. All materiels are included in the price. Students in 6th grade and younger (under 6 with adult.) Then next Series begins on Wednesdays, October 5 - 26 from 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Join Cory McAtee on Tuesdays, October 3 - 24 from 6:30 to 8:00pm as he introduces you (middle to high school )to the basics of Photoshop. Learn as he explains the different editing tools and how to use them. Students will use what they learn over the course of the class to create digital artwork using photographs they will take during and outside of class. Students should provide their own laptop and copy of Photoshop. Adobe offers 30-day free trials for Photoshop which can be used during the time of the course.
Cory is a local artist and teacher whose personal works focuses primarily on the use of digital media.
Join Nicole Harris on Saturday Sept. 9 from 10:00am to 12:30 as she leads you and your little one in painting Hearts! Play with palette knives and brushes, and use bright rainbow colors to express joy and laughter. A heart or hearts will be painted over the Abstract Expressionistic background. The class is held in the Esbenshade Maker Space.

Instructor April Jenkins will lead this class which is designed for home school students in grades 3-5th and will meet on Wednesdays, September 6th - October 11 from 12:30 to 1:30. Students will learn about Mondrian and Kandinsky and how math was used in their art. Areas of study will include area, perimeter, angles, fractions, lines, diameter and radius. Students will work with a variety of mediums including paint, clay, watercolor and Legos.
Beginning Monday, September 11 to October 2, from 10 - 11 am, children 18 month thru age 3 accompanied by an adult will love to come in and play with art! Instructor/artist Jessie Siefert will introduce new art materials and experiences each week. Class ends with a song and playtime in the Big Room! Dress for mess and fun. Maximum class of 10 students. Session 2 begins Oct 9 - 20 and Session 3 begins November 6 - December 4.
Join instructor Summer Webb- Sundstrom on Tuesdays, September 12 - October 3, 4:30 - 6:00 pm for this four week session of exploring artists and their techniques of drawing, painting, collage and sculpting. Grades K- 2nd.
"Halloween Trees" Join Nicole Harris on Saturday Oct. 14 from 10am - 12:30. Bring your child or grandchild along for this fun painting-for-two experience! Make two spooky trees and a glowing autumn sky with cute little shadow pumpkins.
Most classes require a minimum of 4 students in order to run and/or have maximum number limits so… PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO ENSURE THAT YOU CAN GET INTO THE CLASS YOU WANT. Parkersburg Art Center reserves the right to withhold a partial administrative fee from all class refunds.
