"Mr. Potter" and resident potters will instruct you on the fine art of pottery on the wheel, Thursdays, January 4 - 25, 6 -9 p.m. All materials of clay, glazes and kiln firing are included in the cost.

Join Heather Royer on January 6, 12-4 p.m. Learn the age-old skill of bookbinding and assemble your own hardbound book. This is a beginner’s class. Directions will be broken down into simple steps and easy to follow. All supplies and materials will be provided including custom made marbled paper to decorate your cover. Ages 12 and up are welcome. There is a limit of 8 students in the class. Be sure to sign up before it fills!

Join instructor Joyce Tharp and Jan Wittman in the "off the wheel" techniques of hand building with clay. Mondays, January 8 - 29, 6 - 9 p.m. All materials are included. Please register, today! Ages high school through adult!

Learn fretting, picking techniques, an introduction to chords and begin to play a few songs too! Jonathan Seymour has played guitar most of his life (30 years professionally) and has been teaching for 20 of those. These are 1/2 hour, private lessons for students ages 12 - adult.
Lesson times are available on Tuesdays between the hours of 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Please Call 304-485-3859 to reserve your time.

Join artist/musician Jonathan Seymour on Thursdays, January 11-February 15, 6-7:30 p.m. for this beginner/intermediate course. Jonathan will help you learn how to draw what you see. The class will start with some basic exercises then move onto still-life drawing and end with drawing the human face. We will supply the materials for the first class. You will then be given a supply list so you will have the tools to continue at home. Jonathan is a mixed media artist specializing in portraits. He attended the Art Institute of Boston and has taught drawing off and on since the mid 80's.

Join artist Virginia Killian in this four-week series all about playing with art. Spend Sunday afternoon in the studio and find your creative voice. You will have the opportunity to explore different media including painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed-media activities. Sundays from 3-5 p.m., January 14-February 4. Materials are included in the prices of the class.

Join Athens area artist, Barbara Ery on Saturdays, January 20-February 10, 10:30am-12:30p.m. There is no right or wrong way to create an art journal just your way. Come out for an exploration of techniques, applications, ideas and self discovery. It's about finding the time to play, be inspired, and to inspire. Open to adults and teens. All materials included.

Join Allen Armel January 23 - February 13 (4 weeks) 6 - 7:30 p.m. If you’ve ever wanted to learn the keys to painting portraiture with watercolor this is the class for you! Let Allen guide you towards producing excellent portraits and improving your skills in this challenging medium. He will provide materials for the first class then hand-out a supply list. Classes are small so register early.

Participants will learn the beautiful art of embossing into metal using various tools to bring their design to life. Join us on Saturday, February 17 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (1/2 hr lunch break). Start with a design fitting a 4 x 4 piece of copper and later move to a larger design - bring your own designs, or choose from a variety available. Artwork can even be designed to fit over a light switch cover. A variety of techniques will be used to create your unique piece.
Cost is $60 (PAC members receive a 20% discount). $12 materials fee due to instructor on day of class.
Join Sharon Hanse on Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (1/2 hour lunch break) for a paste paper workshop. Paste Paper is a technique for developing unusual painted paper designs for use in hand made books, cards, collages, etc. You will learn multiple ways to create layers of color and texture using paste, paint, brushes and texture tools.
Cost $60 (PAC members get a 20% discount) $10 materials fee payable to the instructor

Join Chris Carmicle on Wednesday, January 10, from 6 - 7:30 OR Sunday, January 14, from 1 - 2:30 p.m. to paint a 10" bisque ware ceramic mug with glaze in the colors of your choice! Mugs are 4" tall, 3" diameter and hold 20 oz of goodness. They'll be kiln fired and ready within a week of the class. All ages, adult and children (under 6 with parent).

Most classes require a minimum of 4 students in order to run and/or have maximum number limits so… PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO ENSURE THAT YOU CAN GET INTO THE CLASS YOU WANT. Parkersburg Art Center reserves the right to withhold a partial administrative fee from all class refunds.
