Mondays, (4 weeks) October 2 - 23, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, join instructor Joyce Tharp and Jan Wittman in the "off the wheel" techniques of hand building with clay. All materials are included. Please register, today! Ages high school through adult!
Join artist/musician Jonathan Seymour on Thursdays, September 14 - October 19 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for this beginner/intermediate course. Jonathan will help you learn how to draw what you see. The class will start with some basic exercises then move onto still-life drawing and end with drawing the human face. We will supply the materials for the first class. You will then be given a supply list so you will have the tools to continue at home. Jonathan is a mixed media artist specializing in portraits. He attended the Art Institute of Boston and has taught drawing off and on since the mid 80's.
Learn fretting, picking techniques, an introduction to chords and begin to play a few songs too! Jonathan Seymour has played guitar most of his life (30 years professionally) and has been teaching for 20 of those. These are 1/2 hour, private lessons for students ages 12 - adult.
Lesson times are available on Tuesdays between the hours of 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Please Call 304-485-3859 to reserve your time. Cost is $90 for 6 lessons ($15/lesson) No member discount.
Most classes require a minimum of 4 students in order to run and/or have maximum number limits so… PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO ENSURE THAT YOU CAN GET INTO THE CLASS YOU WANT. Parkersburg Art Center reserves the right to withhold a partial administrative fee for all class refunds.
Beginning Thursdays, Thursday, September 7 - 28, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, "Mr. Potter" and resident potters will instruct you on the fine art of pottery on the wheel. All materials of clay, glazes and kiln firing are included in the cost. Please call for registration. Session 2 begins on October 5 -26.
Join Cory McAtee on Tuesdays, October 3 - 24 from 6:30 to 8:00pm as he introduces you (middle to high school )to the basics of Photoshop. Learn as he explains the different editing tools and how to use them. Students will use what they learn over the course of the class to create digital artwork using photographs they will take during and outside of class. Students should provide their own laptop and copy of Photoshop. Adobe offers 30-day free trials for Photoshop which can be used during the time of the course.
