Join artist/musician Jonathan Seymour on Thursdays, October 26th - December 7th (no class Nov. 23rd) from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for this beginner/intermediate course. Jonathan will help you learn how to draw what you see. The class will start with some basic exercises then move onto still-life drawing and end with drawing the human face. We will supply the materials for the first class. You will then be given a supply list so you will have the tools to continue at home. Jonathan is a mixed media artist specializing in portraits. He attended the Art Institute of Boston and has taught drawing off and on since the mid 80's.
Join Barbara on Saturday mornings, Oct. 28-Nov. 18 from 10:30am to 12:30pm for Art Journaling. There is no right or wrong way to create an art journal just your way. Come out for an exploration of techniques, applications, ideas and self discovery. It's about finding the time to play, be inspired, and to inspire. Open to adults and teens. All materials included.
Beginning Thursday, November 2-30 (no class Nov. 23), from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, "Mr. Potter" and resident potters will instruct you on the fine art of pottery on the wheel. All materials of clay, glazes and kiln firing are included in the cost.
Come, learn, and enjoy the wonders of watercolor painting with artist Allen Armel on Saturdays, November 4 - December 2 from 6 - 7:30 pm (no class Nov. 25th). Allen will run you through the basic skills necessary to produce beautiful pieces of art. This class will primarily focus on small scale still life paintings as a means to practice and develop your observation skills and painting technique. Emphasis will be placed on producing studies of your chosen subject. Perfect for those interested in producing nature/plant studies, hand-painted cards, or those just interested in the medium.
Mondays, (4 weeks) November 6th - November 27th, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, join instructor Joyce Tharp and Jan Wittman in the "off the wheel" techniques of hand building with clay. All materials are included. Please register, today! Ages high school through adult!
Learn fretting, picking techniques, an introduction to chords and begin to play a few songs too! Jonathan Seymour has played guitar most of his life (30 years professionally) and has been teaching for 20 of those. These are 1/2 hour, private lessons for students ages 12 - adult.
Lesson times are available on Tuesdays between the hours of 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Please Call 304-485-3859 to reserve your time. Cost is $90 for 6 lessons ($15/lesson) No member discount.
Most classes require a minimum of 4 students in order to run and/or have maximum number limits so… PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO ENSURE THAT YOU CAN GET INTO THE CLASS YOU WANT. Parkersburg Art Center reserves the right to withhold a partial administrative fee from all class refunds.
