Adult and Teen Classes
Students will be instructed on the fine art of pottery on the wheel. All materials; clay, glaze, and kiln firing are included in the cost. This class is open to teens and adults and will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 6 - 27 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Learn the fundamentals of building clay projects by hand. Techniques include coil building, slab construction, pinch pot method, extrusion and basics of wheel throwing. Projects will include hand building mugs, bowls, vases, plates, fairy houses, and cellphone amplifiers. Glazing and firing techniques are taught along with exploring surface textures. Teens and adults can join Joyce Tharp and Jan Wittman for this four-week session on Mondays, Sept. 10 - Oct. 1 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Learn fretting, picking techniques, an introduction to chords and begin to play a few songs too! Jonathan Seymour has played guitar most of his life and has been teaching for twenty of those. These are 1/2 hour, private lessons for students ages 12 - adult.

If you have ever wanted to learn the keys to painting portraiture with watercolor this is the class for you. Let Allen Armel help guide you towards producing excellent portraits and improve your skills in this challenging medium and subject. From the most basic of skills and problems will be addressed and worked on throughout the course. This class is for teens and adults (beginner to intermediate) and will meet on Tuesdays, Sept. 11 - Oct. 2 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Join artist/musician Jonathan Seymour for this beginner/intermediate course on Thursdays, Sept. 13 - Oct. 18 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Jonathan will help you learn how to draw what you see. The class will start with some basic exercises then move onto still-life drawing and end with drawing the human face. We will supply the materials for the first class. You will then be given a supply list so you will have the tools to continue at home. Jonathan is a mixed media artist specializing in portraits. He attended the Art Institute of Boston and has taught drawing off and on since the mid 80s.

Join Heather Cooper for this quick and painless class for those who want to learn Tarot but have no Idea of where to start or find the entire process overwhelming . The class will be broken down into 6 weeks including The Major Arcana, The Wands, The Cups, The Swords, The Pentacles, Layouts, and bringing it all together. Class will meet on Thursdays, September 20 - October 25 from 6-7 p.m.
For ages 16 and older with parents permission. Adults of all ages. Maximum number of students: 10

There is no right or wrong way to create an art journal of your very own. Explore techniques, applications, ideas, and self-discovery. B.Y.O.J. (bring your own journal), any size and shape will do and let Barbara Ery help you create. This class is open to teens and adults and will meet on Saturday, Sept. 22, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Build your own fairy house by slab construction method. Make it a bird feeder, a lighted garden ornament, or a birdhouse by modifying your plan. After your fairy house has dried and been bisque fired, you will come back two weeks later and glaze your creation. The final firing takes three days, then your creation can be taken home. This class is taught by Jan Wittman and Joyce Tharp. There is no specific start date, but dates are Fridays, Oct. 5 - 12, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Join Samantha Roberts for this two-class series on Tuesdays, Oct. 9 and 16, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn the basics that will enable you to start playing with watercolors on your own in no time. This two-class series is hands-on fun. Samantha will provide the materials but offer suggestions for what you might want to purchase to continue painting at home. Students will work to recreate the image above.
